Curriculum

Our curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of our children . Our children experience a broad and balanced education, enabling them to develop a strong sense of self, ambition and resilience. By the time they leave Moorside Junior School they will be able to learn both independently and collaboratively - being secondary ready.

At Moorside Junior School we design our curriculum to inspire our children so they enjoy learning.  Each term we use a particular topic or theme to base the children’s curriculum. The curriculum is outcome-focused and engaging with purposeful experiences for writing and rich tasks. It is unrestrictive, flexible and personalised. There is a core element of consistency and whole school approaches; ensure we that support children of all abilities in making progress.

We recognise and share strengths and expertise across the school, to interest, inspire and motivate pupils. Children are encouraged to develop positive behaviour for learning through SEAL and extra curricular activities, and be considerate and caring individuals through our 'be kind' ethos.

Our four year curriculum has been drafted to take account of the new 2014 National Curriculum - the link below illustrates the areas covered over the four years.  For information about the statutory requirements please follow this link to the   DfE website.
